Exhibition "Les Fugitives"

Sun Temple, Konark, Orissa. Feb 2012

The Sun temple of Konark is a Unesco World Heritage Site, quite a unique piece of architecture in India.

It was built in the mid 13th century by an Orissan king to celebrate his military victory over the Muslims. The entire temple is made of sandstone.

It was conceived as the cosmic chariot of the Sun God, Surya. The name of the town Konark is derived from the Sanskrit word Kona (which means angle) and Arka (which means sun).

There are absolute wonders of stone carvings all around the temple, from hunts to military battles, deities, musicians, dancers, lovers and a lot of erotic stone carvings, similar to the ones we find in Khajuraho.

Joy!

Dear friends and people who happen to visit this blog, I would like to share the two latest news on this page too:
Delhi School of Photography has selected 4 of my photos ( you will know later which ones) for an exhibition in India Habitat Center in New Delhi, from 20th to 22nd of March. This news came so unexpected and just fills me with great joy and motivation!
And Mrs Alecca Carrano has so nicely proposed me to put up an exhibition in the month of May 2012 in her little art gallery in Shahpur Jat, New Delhi.
This is all a very modest step to something more than it was, but it is enough to make me the happiest person right now! Thanks to all of you who have been a great praise or critic or both.
